Canterbury Health Alliance System Framework

The Canterbury Health System operates in an alliance framework. This means that organisations and leaders across the health system share a joint vision and agree to work together for the people of Canterbury.

The Canterbury Clinical Network (CCN) is the broadest health alliance in New Zealand. Waitaha Primary Health  is a key partner in the Canterbury Clinical Network. Our staff, Board and members sit on many of CCN’s groups, supporting and advocating for our communities while maintaining strong relationships and keeping informed across the health system.

Other partners to the Canterbury Clinical Network include the Canterbury District Health Board, other Primary Health Organisations and pharmacy, laboratory, radiology and community service providers.

Canterbury Health System Level Measures

The System Level Measures Improvement Plan demonstrates the Canterbury Health System’s commitment to improving the health outcomes of our population and our quality of service delivery.

System Level Measures are high level aspirational goals for the health system that align with the five strategic themes of the New Zealand Health Strategy and other national strategic priorities such as Better Public Services targets.

The System Level Measures and their contributory measures provide the Canterbury Health System with the opportunity to address key health outcomes for our population and focus on our local priorities. This Improvement Plan has been developed in response to the Ministry of Health’s requirements for implementing the System Level Measures Framework. The measures align with the Canterbury Health System Outcomes Framework, and are based on analysis of local trends, and considered appropriate to the needs and priorities of our unique Canterbury population.

The Canterbury Clinical Network, of which Waitaha Primary Health is a key partner, led the development of this Improvement Plan. The Canterbury Clinical Network’s clinically-led Workstreams and Service Level Alliances, alongside a number of specialist work groups, will be the vehicles for driving improvement against these measures.
