Improving mental health clinician for prison services – 1.0 FTE (Maternity leave cover – 1 year)
Waitaha Primary Health provides clinical and management support to primary care. The PHO also delivers primary mental health services to the three Canterbury Prisons.
We are now seeking an experienced, registered mental health professional for the exciting role of Improving Mental Health Clinician (IMHC) to provide clinical and educational support to Christchurch Women’s Prison.
The successful clinician will provide psychological assessment and brief intervention for prisoners who have a mental health need or who are identified as being vulnerable within the prison environment.
Strong clinical acumen and competency with a therapeutic modality (e.g. CBT or ACT) are highly essential.
The successful clinician will receive:
• Support from the IMHC team and Prison Health Centre staff
• Regular funded clinical supervision
• Training budget for personal clinical development
• In-house training and educational opportunities
• Involvement in mental health initiatives in the prison
The position is a fixed term, maternity leaves cover a contract for one year.
Clinicians who hold registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act or have a recognized social work qualification will be considered for the position.
