Waitaha Primary Health (WPH) provides integrated primary, secondary, and community care for people with mental health and / or addiction problems in the rurally picturesque Hurunui and Ashburton Districts.

We are seeking a person to work as both clinical team leader and Rural Mental Health Specialist (RMHS) to join our small and dynamic team.

You will be an enthusiastic team player who is motivated, has a positive, compassionate “can do” attitude and is committed to providing excellent patient care in a professional manner. The primary purpose of the RMHS role is to achieve better quality of life for people with mental health and / or addiction problems.  You will therefore be assisting referrers to appropriately identify, treat and case manage people with a mental illness and/or AOD issues.  As clinical lead, you will be triaging and allocating referrals to the primary mental health team as well as holding a caseload of your own.  While well experienced in working with adult mental health clients, you see this as a great opportunity to move into a team leadership /coordination role.


  • Be a Registered Nurse with a current Practising Certificate
  • Have a minimum of 5 years clinical experience
  • Contemporary knowledge and skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and skills development
  • Some clinical leadership experience an advantage
